Third quarterly week-end in Auvergne
This week-end was our third quarterly week-end. The meeting point was in Clermont-Ferrand.
F et M had taken a train from Paris as we were driving from Toulouse.
We arrived at the castel of Charade, a very beautiful castel from the 17th century, very-well renovated where we were sleeping the two nights. We picked up the keys and should have been fetching F et M at the railway station around 10pm but the SNCF decided otherwise...
And the train arrived at 1am !!!
We still had the dessert together at the castel : strawberries and champagne !!!!!! Luxury !!!
We had the suite with two bedrooms, a little livingroom and downstairs, the dining room with a french pool.
The following morning, we had a giantic breakfast ! Delicious breakfast prepared by our hostess, the lady of the manor with home-made yoghurt and jams, yummmmmy !
In the early afternoon, we went for a walk on the Puy de Jumes and Coquilles, a very nice walk from bottom to top under the forest and ending with a beautiful view of all the old volcanoes.
We stopped to have lunch on top of it, in the best spot ! We had everything : tomatoes, radishes, hams, bread and... wine !!! We could feel jealousy from the other walkers !!! ;-)
We finished the afternoon on top of the Puy de Dome where the panoramic view is incredible. Unfortunately, the cafeteria there was closed.
We stayed for a while watching the paragliders taking off the Puy de Dome. Wahoo, they have guts !!!! Special wink to Caroline !!!
We then had dinner in "L'auberge de la Moreno" at the Col de la Moreno. Some of the dishes were delicious !! Not all of them, unfortunately... but not bad either !!
On sunday, we visited two mountain lakes. On the shore of Lake of Guery, we had lunch, and we had a walk around the Lake Pavin. Beautiful place ! Our short walk was granted by a good beer and fresh orange juice.
The landscapes from Lake Guery to Lake Pavin is just amazing !!! And there was still some snow and people skiing !!!
Let me bring up the two people of the week-end : Gerard, the paraglider of the Puy de Dome and Antoine, the kid of the mountain !! Our superstars !
And thank you to our hostess of the château de Charade for her kindness and good advice.
